No strangers to VOLCANO listeners are Denpasar’s KANEKURO @kanekuro_. One of our fave bands of all time they ride an intense mix of post-punk and dark surf (though we doubt any of the band own a board). Diving deep into the dark and secret social intrigues of Balinese society, their music explores hatred, numbness, desire, the seven sins, and sociopathy. We’re spinning all five tracks daily - and you’re sure to hear Katie’s fave, “Dansa Duka,” on her shows.
And there we were - July 2025, standing in the sun, and the next band on the stage was gonna be THE BATCAVE @thebatcave.bali. We’d never heard of them, let alone seen them before, so we thought, let’s risk sunburn and check them out. Holy tartan, Batman - what a show! Addys, Skunx, Kengkeng, and Dave deliver explosive Balinese punk/ska energy. Catch their two new singles, “All Hustle, No Luck” and “Into the Past” on VOLCANO.
Oh yeah - pop-punk at its snappiest! TUNEBRIDGE @tune.bridge just dropped off their debut album “Memory Core” to the VOLCANO studio. Catchy, punchy, and honest - we can’t get enough. You’ll find their earlier hits plus six brand-new bangers. We’re blasting them all, including our new fave, “Rumah.”
Neat - another C-40 cassette just landed in the VOLCANO mailbox. It’s described as “classic indiepop–indierock-influenced jangly tracks.” Clunk - let’s load it into our Sony Walkman. WOOOO what! SOURMILK’s @sourmilkclubdebut album lives up to the hype! With heartbreak and humour, your fave singles and new cuts bang out hard.
